Permits, altitude, bikes and booking — answered.
When is the best time for the West Sikkim bike tour?
The expedition runs on Sundays from September through May. Autumn (September–November) brings clear Kanchenjunga views, while spring (March–May) adds rhododendron blooms in the West Sikkim valleys. We pause through the heavy monsoon months.
Do I need a permit for North Sikkim and Gurudongmar Lake?
Yes. North Sikkim destinations such as Lachen, Lachung and Gurudongmar Lake require Sikkim Inner Line Permits and protected-area permits. Indian riders need a valid government photo ID; international riders need a passport and four passport-sized photographs. Our team arranges the permits for you.
How difficult is the ride, and what about altitude?
It's a moderately challenging Himalayan ride on mountain roads, suitable for riders with some experience. Gurudongmar Lake sits above 4,400 m, so altitude sickness is a genuine risk — we build in acclimatisation, carry an oxygen cylinder 24×7, and a support vehicle and mechanic follow the group throughout.
What's included in the tour price?
Your Royal Enfield, fuel as per the itinerary, accommodation on double/triple sharing, 7 breakfasts and 7 dinners, a dedicated bike marshal, a luggage backup vehicle, a mechanic, an oxygen cylinder, a first-aid kit, and all sightseeing in the itinerary. Permits like Nathula, insurance, GST and a refundable security deposit are extra.
Can non-riders or partners join the trip?
Yes. Alongside the 20 motorbikes, each Sunday departure offers 10 shared-cab seats at ₹40,000 per seat — comfortable support-vehicle travel for partners and non-riders who still want to be part of every stop.
Which Royal Enfield should I choose?
We offer five expedition-prepped models: Himalayan 450 (our flagship for high-altitude climbs), Himalayan 411, Scram 411, Classic 350 and Hunter 350. The Himalayans are best for the rough North Sikkim roads; the 350s are lighter and easier for newer riders.
What happens if the trip is cancelled?
A departure runs with a minimum of 6 bikes. If we ever cancel a trip for weather, bad roads, landslides or insufficient group size, you receive a full refund or a transfer to a future departure.
